A Development joined the international initiative "PlayWood", started by Ukrainian-French architectural trio Anastasiya Marchenko, Emma Penot and Nicolas Ziesel

In September 2023, Woodrise + KOZplay organized an international architecture workshop in Bordeaux, which gathered students from France, Ukraine and Japan. During 15 days, the architectural student community worked on designing emergency housing units. At the end of the workshop, a competition was held among five international teams of students who developed prototypes of five separate room designs. The winning project became a prototype for the exhibition, where innovative solutions of young architects from Japan, Ukraine and France were demonstrated. After participating in the workshop in Bordeaux, the team of young architects, carpenters and woodworkers formed strong friendships and continued the dialogue about socially useful architecture

And already in September 2024 in Kyiv, the team headed by Anastasia Marchenko initiated the "Playwood" project, where the key-goal was to create a children's play space with the direct involvement of those for whom it is created — children. Team invited children from art schools of all districts of Kyiv and held a series of workshops, during which the children had the opportunity to share their dreams of an ideal playground, forming its vision — structure, unique elements and aesthetics. Through interactive sessions and hands-on work, they worked alongside architects to ensure that the final design for 2025 fully reflected their dreams, aspirations and identity.

A Development team responded to the request for partnership in this initiative and joined the project, providing its own infrastructure and resources to implement the most daring children's ideas. CMO of A Development, Bronislav Chumak, participated in the event and in the first days of the workshops gave the project team, children and their parents a tour of the revitalized space of the former workshops of the "Arsenal" manufacture - A-Station.

At the end of the series of workshops, the "Playwood" team, with the support of the mayor's office of Kyiv and Bordeaux, solemnly opened an exhibition of children's concepts of ideas at the site of the future playground on Trukhanovo Island. Throughout the year, it will be a place to share ideas with the community and continue to engage children in creating a sustainable, innovative and inclusive children's space made of wood in 2025.
